History in the Making 2014-1914(1878)

THE CASE OF BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA - Case Study

Educational module for the School of Knowledge – a not-for-profit educational initiative whose aim is to bridge the gap between historic events and contemporary interpretations in an interactive composition. For decades, a war of interpretations has been waged across the Balkans. In the case of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with numerous special interests, it is easy to overlook the simplicity of the truth - which is clear when you consider only the facts.

Using a methodology of documentary animation the case of Bosnia and Herzegovina is observed in the historical context from 1878 to 2014. Starting with the Congress of Berlin at which Bosnia and Herzegovina was handed over to the Austro-Hungarian Empire rule; continuing with the Sarajevo assassination; the First World War; creation & capitulation of the first Yugoslavia; the Second World War; creation & the fall of the second Yugoslavia; Dayton Peace Accords agreement; post-Dayton Bosnia; and concluding with public protests of February 2014. Special emphasis is placed on the reconstruction of Sarajevo assassination event (28 June 1914).

History in the Making 2014-1914 (1878) is an educational project intended for an eclectic international audience: schools; academia; journalists; analysts / researchers; international organisations; NGOs; libraries & archives; educational-cultural sectors; visitors to Sarajevo, Bosnia & Herzegovina & Southeast Europe; and the general public.
